During the last academic year students did gymnastics, Tennis, pyramid formation, races, mass drills, Kung Fu, Karate, Table-Soccer…They played Khokho, Langdi, Dodgeball, Handball, Throwball, Football, Rugby, Volleyball, La techque, Cricket and other games with Anirudh Sir and Benjamin Sir. Ultimate, the new game introduced this year has been extremely popular. In the inter-class competitions held between MYP classes, Grade 8 (MYP 3) demonstrated great zeal and very good skills in this new sport.
Students of KG3 to Grade 6 participated in the Sports Day that was held in March. Different activities adapted to the physical capacities of each age-group were offered. Apart from that, both the girls’ and boys’ Football Team participated in an inter-school Under-14 Football Tournament and made it till the semi-finals.
This academic year, we have revamped the bathrooms to include showers and dressing rooms for boys and girls (separate). Athletism and gymnastics will continue to be included as part of the students’ regular training. In addition to the below mentioned activities, football, cricket, basket, karate and kung fu sessions will be offered after school as an optional sport from Grade 6 to 12. Diploma students can opt for the optional sport as part of (Action)-CAS. We are considering to offer judo as an optional sport this year.

In the State Level Table-Soccer Tournament, students of Std 1-8 won 15 Gold medals, 14 Silver medals and 16 Bronze medals. In Karate, they won 5 Gold medals, 1 Silver medal and 6 Bronze medals. At the National Karate Tournament held in Chandigarh Fowzia Hawa won the Gold medal, Mazhar Hawa the Silver medal and Jatin Solanki the Bronze medal. The trio then went to Nepal for the International Karate Tournament held in May 07 and Jatin Solanki won the Bronze medal.
A shield was given to Jatin Solanki by the Mayor of Ahmedabad in a ceremony hosted by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation on 6/8/07 to commemorate student achievements in the city. Jatin won a bronze medal in the South-East Asian Karate Championiship held in Nepal in May 2007.

Trusha Oza, a student from Grade 9 secured the first position in the National Karate Tournament. She also got her brown belt. Congratulations!
It has been a matter of pride for us to have so many girls participating in martial arts offered in school. Last year Fowzia Hawa, a student from Grade 9 (then) won the Gold medal at the Nationals.We hope that our students keep a continued interest in martial arts.

Mr. Donald Melville, Kung Fu 5th dane black belt, Karate black belt, trained in boxing and Judo has volunteered to train our students and teachers in martial arts and self defence. We feel privildeged to have an all India expert training us.
